The running principles of singeing machine

Singeing is to make the fabric quickly pass through the flame of singeing machine or the high temperature metal surface in the state of open width, so as to remove the fluff on the fabric surface, this is a process of obtaining a smooth surface. At this time, the fluff on fabric is loose and close to the flame, so it can be quickly heated up and burned. The fabric itself, thick and far away from the flame, so it heats up slowly, leaving the flame or the hot metal surface long before the temperature reaches the ignition point. Therefore, by using the principle that the heating rate of the fabrics is different from that of the fluff, only the fluff on the surface of fabrics can be burned without damaging the fabric.

In the process of singeing, different fiber materials have different singeing temperature, so it is necessary to understand the thermal properties of different fiber materials.

Thermal performance:

Cotton fiber: 350 ℃ ~ 370 ℃ hot cracking occurred

400 ℃ began to burn

Polyester fiber: 230 ~ 240 ℃ soft change point

250 ~ 260 ℃ melting point

485 ℃ began to burn



Using the temperature difference between fluff and fabric. The fluff volume is small and heats up rapidly, while the fabric volume is large and heats up slowly, so the fluff is easy to be burned when singeing, while the fabric is difficult to burn, and has little damage to the fabric's strength.        




  • Temperature is too low (underburn), not burned clean, color spots appear when dyeing.

  • If the temperature is too high or the speed is too slow (overburning), the fabric will have thermal shrinkage, creasing and hand induction, and the width will shrink.
