ADD International Textile Conference 2020 Gets Cancelled
The organisers of the Aachen-Dresden-Denkendorf (ADD) international textile conference 2020, ITM Dresden and DWI Aachen, have decided to cancel the event, due to the COVID-19 outbreak. The textile conference in Stuttgart planned for this year has been postponed to November 9-10, 2021. The event is one of the most renowned textile conferences in Europe.
For thirteen years, the ADD international textile conference, which is organised in annual rotation by DWI Aachen, ITM Dresden and, since 2016, DITF Denkendorf, has been one of the most important textile conferences in Europe. The international platform for experts from science and industry is a fixed point in the calendar of the textile industry. In 2019, the range of high-calibre lectures was extended from three to four parallel sessions, according to a press release on the show.
The very hesitant response to this year’s Call for Papers as well as detailed consultations with representatives from the industry, associations, and institutes, and above all, with the advisory boards of the ADD ITC, show that this year it will be difficult to attract a large variety of presentations and many participants for a fruitful exchange. This is not least due to the financial burden caused by the lockdown. It is also completely unclear how many participants from abroad could leave or enter the country.
The topics for the 2021 event includes upcoming textile mechanical engineering ideas; opportunities with new materials: high-performance fibres and fibre composites, competitive advantages and sustainability: functionalisation, new finishings; new challenges in medical textiles / medical technologies; and new applications and markets in textile building, architecture, mobility, energy, and environment.
